Ontario Provincial Police have arrested and charged an individual after a road rage incident where one driver allegedly deliberately hit another vehicle.

The OPP said the incident happened on Highway 11 and Highway 65 in the Temiskaming Shores area around 1 p.m. on Dec. 30, according to a Dec. 31 post on the OPP Facebook page.

Police said a white Toyota Rav 4 Sport Utility vehicle was driving erratically and intentionally hit another vehicle on the road.

Video posted on social media of the incident shows the victim’s vehicle pulling over to the shoulder of the road where a white vehicle is parked with its hazard lights flashing.

Shortly after the victim’s vehicle pulled over behind it, the white vehicle began to move forward. After a few moments, the white vehicle starts backing up towards the victim’s vehicle, which is still parked on the shoulder of the highway.

The victim’s vehicle starts driving backward to avoid a collision with the white vehicle.

At this point the victim calls police, which can be heard on the video. He gives his name and explains that the suspect vehicle attempted to back up into his vehicle.

The victim can then be heard saying the vehicle in front of him is going to try and ram him head-on. He tells the police that he is in danger as he continues to drive backward on the shoulder of the highway.

The white vehicle can be seen coming toward the vehicle and rams into the front of it.

The victim says that the suspect vehicle was going to attempt to ram him onto the bridge. He then tells the police that he is on the bridge as the vehicle spins to the side.

Video shows the driver is able to maneuver around the white SUV as he tells the police he is heading toward the police station.

He can be heard saying that the vehicle was following him toward the cop station.

The victim’s vehicle then spins around on the road as the white vehicle slams it from the side. The white vehicle can then be seen driving off.

Officers tried several times to stop the Toyota, eventually resorting to a spike belt. As a result, OPP said the vehicle was stopped and the driver arrested.

Police said there were no injuries reported. However, the driver was taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution, according to the social media post.

OPP are asking for anyone who may have video or dash camera footage in connection to the incident to contact them at 1-888-310-1122, quoting reference number E241708623. Tips can also be made anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.ontariocrimestoppers.ca,

OPP said some tips could lead to a $2,000 cash reward.

It is the second road rage incident in less than two weeks that OPP have responded to.

On Dec. 19, OPP said they arrested a man after he pointed a gun at another vehicle.

Police responded to the call around 11:51 a.m. on Hwy 11 North in Oro-Medonte, according to an OPP news release posted on Facebook.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on Memorial Avenue and Woodland Drive in Orillia, and a 25-year-old man was arrested in what the OPP have described as a “high-risk take down.”

Sean Plater is facing charges of failing to comply with a probation order, pointing a firearm, and four counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a probation order.
