A burn risk has prompted Health Canada to recall a pressure cooker lid linked to more than 100 injuries in the United States.
The lid can be removed on several models of Ninja Foodi Tendercrisp multi-cookers while they are in operation, posing a potential risk of burn injuries when heat and steam escape, according to the May 1 recall notice.

The company received 106 reports of burn injuries in the United States but none had been reported in Canada as of April 10, the notice said. There have been five Canadian reports of lids being opened during use.
The advisory issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission indicates that more than 50 of the reported injuries were second or third-degree burns to the face or body. Twenty-six lawsuits had been filed at the time the advisory was published.
Health Canada is advising all owners to check if their multi-cooker is impacted by the recall.
Products affected by the recall were sold between January 2019 and April 2025. More than 184,000 products were sold in Canada and 1.8 million were sold in the United States. Approximately 187 replacement pressure cooking lids were also sold as service parts in Canada and 15,616 were sold in the United States.

The impacted multi-function cookers made by SharkNinja have a cooking chamber capacity of 6.5 quarts. The brand name “NINJA” is located on the hinged lid/heat shield on the front of each unit.
The recall notice features a list of seven affected models of the multi-cooker, along with instructions on how to contact SharkNinja for a replacement lid.
“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Ninja Foodi multi-cookers’ pressure-cooking function and dispose of the existing pressure-cooking lid to prevent use,” Health Canada said, noting that the multi-cookers’ other functions, such as air crisping, are not affected by this recall.
The Health Canada notice did not say where the Ninja Foodi Tendercrisp multi-cookers were sold. The U.S. advisory said the products were available for purchase at Walmart, Costco, Sam’s Club, Amazon, and Target, as well as on Ninja’s online store.
