Liberal leadership candidate Karina Gould says her campaign is doing everything it can to remain in the race, despite not having deep pockets like her main rivals.

Gould says the party establishment tried as hard as possible to keep the field of candidates small, and now she’s hustling to meet an “extremely aggressive” fundraising deadline.

Candidates have to pay a $125,000 fee by Friday to remain in the race, and a total entry fee of $350,000.

Gould’s campaign sent out a fundraising plea to supporters on Tuesday asking for their help to meet the Friday deadline, saying she needs to raise $100,000 by Friday at 5 p.m.

Gould made the comments Thursday to reporters in Toronto, where she unveiled her plan to tackle homelessness.

She’s running for the party leadership against former Bank of Canada governor Mark Carney, former finance minister Chrystia Freeland, Montreal businessman Frank Baylis and former MP Ruby Dhalla.
